Still Here

It has been a long time since this blog thing has been updated, so I thought I would give it a go today. Thank You to all those that come by to check it out and some even comment.  I do appreciate it.

We have been quite busy in the last month.  Not important stuff.  Well now that I think about it, yeah it is important stuff... vacation and spending time at the cabin.  That is important!! I have been riding though.  Today marked the 3rd ride of 5 rides in the last week that it was over 90°F with one at 98° and another at 99°.  I should ride early in the morning all the time instead of just now and then.  Slow learner.  Although, despite the warm temps, all the rides have been good.  After all, it's weather.  It is what it is.

The end of Douglas County Y.  Straight ahead 7 Mile Dam County Park, left fork is Hill Rd and hard left is snowmobile/ATV trail 41.

A local golf course I frequent, Gordon Pines.

This is another shot of Trail 41.  I am not kidding when I tell you I live in sand country.  Riding the mountain bike on here with 2.1" tires is a good work out, but not advised on the weekend.

More road.

This is our local store, Stop a Sec.  Groceries, Liquor store, Hardware, Bait Shop, Game registration, Hunting/Fishing licences, Post Office, Laundromat, dry cleaning drop, Gas, Diesel, Propane, DMV stuff, books and magazines including local authors, movie rental and well you get the idea.  Important things one may need while out in the bush. Oh and now serving, soup and pizza.  Come by here in the morning to see the local coffee clutch meeting.  I haven't been to one, but have witnessed it a time or two.

Todays ride was 25 miles with the last 4.5 into the wind.  I stopped here and rested a bit before hammering it home.  See the helmet?  IMO, good idea to wear one.

Lets get outdoors and have some fun!!

  1. I thought you'd go one of two ways once you pulled the plug on the J.O.B. You took the way I thought you'd take; and hey; more power to ya!!!
The wheelers are thick in that area from what I remember.
Wise comment on the brain bucket!! It took our little ones one crash each to realize we weren't joking about their wearing of a helmet. It helps that I go very few places without mine! Teaching by example. ;)
I hope your future blog updates are how've they've been; few and far between, with good content!! ;)

  2. Good to hear from you again! I haven't been posting too much lately, either. Glad to hear you're getting plenty of biking in, but then again, I shouldn't have had to worry about that.

We're headed to the north woods next week - Lake Vermillion in MN.

    Take care!

  3. I can't blame you a bit for spending time at the cabin. The area looks like heaven. And the temps in KS have been even a little warmer, so when possible, I've been riding real early. It does make a difference.

  4. Living comes before blogging....otherwise there wouldn't me much to write about when you do blog..
After a major crash in which my helmet smashed into a number of separate pieces I never ride without one...can't help but think that it could have been my skull in sensible for youngsters to wear one..

  5. Thanks for the wonderful comments. I am a believer in the helmet. It has been a great summer!!

  6. RL- Looks like nice riding. One of my all time favorite books is "Sand County Almanac".

I love little stores like that. Everything from ice cream to ammo. I always look forward to reading and seeing pictures about what you're doing.

  7. This is DAN I remade my blog
