It has been a while since I posted up...for a variety of reasons.  I have been riding putting on some miles preparing for some touring this summer.  I am hoping to begin a quick 4 or 5 day trip this coming Monday.  The above shows some of what I will be bringing.  It looks like a lot, but in reality it isn't.  It packs down small. In fact, the BOB trailer has space left. I will try to post up a ride report after the mini trip.

As of late, I have been riding the bike I plan on touring with.  I have made some small trips with it in the past, and it is probably not ideal, but it will do.  I have made some changes to it and it is working well so far.

With our first grandchild here, I have made a couple rides up to visit.  It is close to 19 miles one way from the house and makes for a great ride.  It is mostly quiet country roads...with a new bridge over the Moose River!

The bridge is newer than the bike.  Sad, as this is the third bridge put here in my memory.  I guess I should have taken a pic of the complete bridge...maybe next time.

The Moose River from the bridge.

Lets get outdoors and have some fun!!

  1. The Kona seems a pretty reasonable bike for touring...triple chainset...fenders..good saddle..etc

Look forward to reading about your adventures here....

  2. Excellent Working Dear Friend Nice Information Share all over the olympic bicycle company.God Bless You..
    used bicycle shops in london

  3. Nice!!
Looks like retirement is treating you well!!
    Good for you!!
The BOB trailer is also on my list.
    Enjoy your travels!!

  4. I need to get a rack and more bags for my touring bicycle.

  5. A four or five day self-supported tour around WI? That sounds really good! Take some good pictures to let us share the experience, and have fun!

  6. Trevor...I have tweaked the Kona a little and I think it will be fine on the long haul. It has some sturdy wheels, I added a larger cassette and like you said, fenders saddle ect.

Joboo...Yep, retirement has been good. Over a year now!!

Dan...It's unbelivable how much fits in the panniers. I bought the BOB for when my wife comes along. Although I could put a front rack on and leave the BOB home, I have come to like it. It will stay.

Jeff...This will be a tune up. The longer ride will come in a couple weeks if all goes well. I will post it up.

  7. Hope your trip goes well. I'm heading out myself on Tuesday.
May the wind be at your back.....unless I'm traveling the opposite direction, in which case, I hope the wind is calm.

  8. Looking forward to your report.

BTW..I think the secondhand comment is spam. I keep getting the same post multiple times over the past several days. I've been deleting it.

  9. I think your preparation, training and attitude is a great combination. Sounds like a fun trip. Keep us posted!

  10. Have a great trip and ride safe.

  11. Are you still thinking about coming out this Summer? Maybe for the races?? We could do some camping, follow the bikers along their route & get some killer shots. I may see if there's any volunteer spots left.
